John T. Mitchell

John T. Mitchell, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2025.

Born on May 16th, 1949, in Berwyn, IL, he was well known for his love of music, storytelling, generosity, and uncanny ability to understand “Mr. Market” – building generational wealth for friends, family, colleagues, and clients. John received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University in 1971 and his law degree from Lewis University in 1979.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Bessie Mitchell and his brother Scott Mitchell.

He is survived by son Billy Mitchell, daughter Margie Mitchell, granddaughter Bess Burke, nephew and niece Scott Mitchell and Kathy Knapp and their children, partner Cheryl Sisson, former wife Judy Macnab, and countless friends including “the cousins” Bill and Ed.

John chose not to have a memorial service and his family encourages his friends to enjoy a special meal, trade jokes, and share stories in his memory. He often reflected on what a wonderful life he had thanks to the people he met through his years of personal and professional travel. John’s laughter, kindness, and warm spirit will be missed by everyone who knew him.
