Alfred Soren Kolmos

Alfred Soren Kolmos, 96 of Fairhaven Retirement Home in Whitewater died there on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Alfred was born in Wisconsin in Jan 23, 1919 the son of Christian Jessen and Carrie Seistrup Kolmos. He married Doris Recknagel who predeceased him in 2007. Alfred served with the US Air Force during World War 2. He received his PhD from the U of Illinois in Education and taught at U of Wisconsin Whitewater for over 20 years retiring in 1986. . He was honored as a distinguished professor. Alfred was active in the American Legion Post in Whitewater. He was a member of the Whitewater Historical Society and its breakfast Club and active in Old World Wisconsin. He a 50 year member of First English Lutheran Church. He and his wife were world travels and despite being well traveled enjoyed a good picnic with family and friends. He was well read and most interesting person who loved his family and enjoyed his many friends. Alfred is survived by 1 daughter, Alicia (Douglas) Greve of North Carolina. 1 daughter in law, Charmane Kolmos of Delavan. 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Kit and 3 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services are 11am Thursday, July 30, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church of Whitewater with the Rev. Gerald Wendt officiating . Burial with full military rites are at 2pm July 30th at Hazel Ridge Cemetery in Elkhorn. Friends may call at the church from 9am to service time.
