Alice Peggy Tavitas

Alice Peggy Tavitas (nee Michalak), 90, of Delavan, WI, passed away on October 27th, 2021. Alice leaves behind her loving children, Roxanne Steen and Joseph Tavitas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson, Robert Rayfield, Kurtis Rayfield, Joe Tavitas, and Erica Tavitas. Alice also leaves behind her great-grandchildren August Frogge, Madison Frogge, Audrey Rayfield, and Emily Rayfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Josephine, Susan Tavitas, Rosella Decker, her brothers and sisters Mary (Michalak) Jajowka, Lottie (Michalak) Lakowski, Dorothy (Michalak) Walsh, Elanore (Lenore; Michalak) Philips, Virginia (Michalak) Quesada, Joseph Michalak, Edward Michalak, and her stepsons, Lorenzo Tavitas and Alfredo Robert Tavitas Jr. Alice was the epitome of Mrs. Brady and Alice the Housekeeper of the Brady Bunch, raising her children and step-children. She was gentle and kind but no pushover when the kids acted up. Alice was a little pixie, small in stature, but mighty in life. As a mother, she was supportive in the adventures of her children; loving and caring; generous and giving. She loved to play cards and bingo with her sisters and was a crafty lady, visible in all the ornaments displayed on Christmas trees every year. Alice is the last surviving sibling of eight children. In her final days, she was with her two children, Joe and Roxanne, giving back to Alice what she had given them, all her living years. A service will be held on Saturday, November 13, at St. John Bosco Church (7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN 46324). Luncheon will follow the church service at The Wausaw Inn (2180 Glenwood Dyer Road, Lynwood, IL 60411).
