Additional Comments: A Legend Has Passed; Early Tuesday morning, Mom passed away. Many of you will remember her for her unparalleled baked goods and traditional Southern German dumplings. But she had a remarkable story. Born in the Sudetenland, she liven in a large home that dated pre 1600. She grew up quickly during World War II. At about ten years, she wandered out of the house because her grandfather was dying and she wanted to see him. In the woods, she ran into a Russian encampment. Not knowing what to do, she just sang and kept walking. They stopped her, questioned her, fed her, and sent her on her way. After the war they were kicked out of their home. She was 16 and separated from her family. Ended up working for the U.S. Consul General to Germany, she requested a 6 month visa... he gave her an unlimited one! Upon arrival in New York, she did some modeling. Then off to Miami with friends for another adventure. After meeting my father through mutual friends, they settled in Delavan. When she was pregnant with Ken, she sailed back to Germany to visit her family. On that boat was a gentleman named Dwight Eisenhower. For three evenings they would talk after dinner. Mostly he was interested in how the war impacted her. Her focus then shifted to raising a family and helping others whenever and wherever she could. It?s what gave her the greatest joy and the way I will always remember her legacy!\\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nAnn is survived be her two sons Ken and Rob.
