Recently joined in death by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Mueller. Barbara Catherine Mueller was born January 31st, 1934, the daughter of Theodore and Josephine (nee Jaeger) Mueller. She was born in West Allis and spent her formative years in the Village of St. Martin's, eventually moving to the family farm in Franklin. She graduated from Juneau High School in 1951, then active in the USO, church and traveling with friends. Barbara and Tony met at the Silver Spur Dude Ranch, Gresham, WI, in July 1956, and were engaged within months. Barbara's parents gifted them a corner acre of the family farm, where they built their forever home and raised their family in. Barbara was a faithful wife, mother and friend. Her faith and love for God and family ran deep. She believed and prayed every day for everyone - literally. Barbara's faith carried her through the last several weeks as she was cared for by her family and was waiting for her time to reach heaven. Barbara's devotion to her family came with a love for flowers, birds, gardening, sewing, music and baking, all of which brought her joy every day. She loved square dancing in her younger days with her dance partner and soulmate Tony. Together, they spent countless nights dancing with their friends in many dance halls in Southeastern Wisconsin. She also gave her time to the church, whether that was singing in the choir, working at the festivals, preparing for the St. Mary's Spring Luncheon or living it up on the Sacred Hearts Variety Show stage. In her spare time, she also attended UW-Parkside part-time. Barbara was an award-winning baker, gathering multiple blue ribbon wins at the Wisconsin State Fair. She spent many hours in the kitchen perfecting her craft and was always willing to teach her children and grandchildren the secrets of her special cakes, pies and cookies. Her skills as a seamstress were exceptional and varied whether she made matching square dance outfits, created original wedding and bridesmaid dresses for numerous bridal parties, handcrafted custom automotive upholstery or simply mended a zipper on one of our jackets. She was always willing to pull out a needle and thread to fix whatever was broken. In addition to her formidable skills in the kitchen and sewing room, she enjoyed traveling. Barbara and Tony toured Europe and Canada multiple times. They also went on many trips around the United States, with their favorites including Hawaii, Alaska and New York, especially for its Broadway shows. Most dear to her heart was the long-standing family tradition of gathering annually for the Christmas show at The Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, WI. She will be remembered for her straight talk and no-nonsense approach to life and will be missed by all who called her Barb, Mom or Mrs. M. A special thanks to Comfort Keepers especially Jennifer, Kelly and Jemima who gave her the comfort, care and respect that made her final weeks memorable.
