Brigid C. Cortes

Brigid Courtney Cortes (nee McGowan), 52, of Austin, Texas, and formerly of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, passed tragically and unexpectedly to eternal life on August, 2nd, 2023. Brigid was born on January 15, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late DeAnne K. (Linden) and Patrick J. McGowan. She was united in marriage to Mario Cortes, and the two spent over 20 wonderful years together. Survived by her loving husband, Mario; children Iliana and Mario Cortes; siblings Maureen (Scott) Arient and Patrick McGowan; nephews Scott and Sean Arient and Patrick McGowan; as well as aunts and uncles other relatives and many friends. She will be missed deeply. Brigid is preceded in death by her father, Patrick J. McGowan, who passed in 2008, and her mother, DeAnne K. (Linden) McGowan, who passed just a few days prior to Brigid, on July 29, 2023. A dual celebration of life for both Brigid and her mother, DeAnne will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Lazarczyk Family Funeral Homes of Lake Geneva (515 Center St., Lake Geneva, WI), with an open visitation and gathering from 2 - 8 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day, Friday, September 8, 2023, 10 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
