Carol M. Peck

Carol M. Peck (Pechousek), nee Buresh, age 82, of Lake Geneva, WI., passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Tom Peck (Pechousek) for 62 years. Dear Mother of Tom of Mchenry, IL., James (Vickie) Peck of Lake Geneva, WI., Lawrence (Molly) Peck of Ann Arbor, MI., and Robert (Christina) Peck of Williams Bay, WI. Proud Grandmother to R.J., Shelby, Thomas, Lauren, Lindsay, Nicole, and Julia. Carol was born August 11, 1934 in Woodstock, IL., the daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Radous) Buresh. She married Thomas H. Pechousek (Peck) on May 1, 1954, at St. Mary of Celle Catholic Church, Berwyn, IL. She has one sibling, a younger sister Joanne Charvat, of Elmhurst, IL. Carol attended St. Mary of Celle Grammar School, and graduated from Morton High School, Cicero, IL. She soon after started a family and raised four sons in Elmhurst, IL., before moving to Lake Geneva, WI. in 1983. Carol stood up for a wedding as a young woman, and the bride's four brothers stood up in that wedding also. From that moment on, she said she wanted a family of four boys! God blessed her with her wish, four boys! Later in life after the children were grown, Carol decided to enter the work force. She was extremely proud of her job as manager of Barton's Department Store in downtown Lake Geneva, affectionately known as 'Ma Barton'! She was loved by many, and people from far and away would travel to Lake Geneva just to visit Carol at Barton's. Carol genuinely cared about the welfare of others more than herself, even throughout this time of illness, in which she never complained. She was always a Peacemaker, keeping unity amongst family and friends. Carol lived for her four boys and grandchildren, and enjoyed shopping daily for their benefit. The Peck Family would like to thank Seasons Hospice and Artisan Senior Living for the compassionate care given to Carol these past couple months. The family would also like to thank Bishop James T. Schuerman and St. Francis de Sales Parish, Lake Geneva. Memorials may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 148 Main St., Lake Geneva, WI., 53147. Visitation will be held at 9:30-11:00 am, Monday, April 3, 2017 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 148 Main St., Lake Geneva, WI., followed by an 11:00 am Mass, with Bishop James Schuerman officiating. Lunch will follow in Lake Geneva and will be announced at Mass. Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home of Lake Geneva, Wi. assisted the family with the arrangements.
