Catherine Violet Lantz, age 88, a longtime resident of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Oak Park Place in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Catherine was born on February 24, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Philip and Violet Quartana. On November 26, 1979, she married Ronald E. Lantz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Illinois.
She lived a life defined by quiet strength, resilience, and enduring perseverance. Throughout her life, she faced many challenges, yet continued forward with determination, raising eight children and providing for her family. Her love showed itself in steady, practical ways—through her perseverance, her sacrifices, and her unwavering commitment to her family.
Catherine had a beautiful smile and a deep connection to the spiritual world, to nature, and to travel—finding meaning and peace in places and moments that spoke to her soul.
She carried more than most, and her life’s journey is woven into the stories and memories of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through them.
Catherine is now reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Ronald Lantz, of 46 years, who preceded her in death this past October. She was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Michele Ruiz; her son, Russell Northern; her granddaughter, Heather Fletcher; and her step-granddaughter, Lisa Berger.
Catherine is survived by her children: Michael (Renee) Northern, Kathleen (Kurt) Witbrod, Susan (Lee) Miller, Charmaine (Jay) Carter, Rich Kutella, and Angie Rodriguez; her son-in-law, Mitch Ruiz; and her stepchildren, Shari Valdes (Sam) and Joe Lantz. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home in Lake Geneva at 10:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery at 12:00 PM, where both Catherine and Ronald will be laid to rest. A celebration of life reception will be held for family and friends at Tuscan Grill in Lake Geneva from 1:00–2:00 PM.
