Christine B. Targo

Christine B. Targo July 12, 1950 - February 27, 2017 Christine B. Targo, 66, Pell Lake, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. She was born July 12, 1950, in Mississippi to Stefan and Burga Loder Orzel. She attended Catholic schools in Chicago, and landed a job in an office downtown for the American Medical Association before she graduated high school. Chris met Gordon Targo when she would visit her parents at their summer cottage in Pell Lake. They married Oct. 9, 1971, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, Chicago, and lived together in Pell Lake until 1978. For almost 10 years, they lived in Lake Geneva, then returned to the Pell Lake area. Chris held various office positions throughout her life, including office manager for S.F. Hutchinson, which ran about a dozen McDonald's restaurants in northeastern Illinois. She also worked part-time at Sentry Foods and Sears, in Lake Geneva. Her last job was as an accountant for CTM, an accounting firm in Lincolnshire, IL. She was an intelligent, thoughtful person who loved telling stories. She enjoyed baking, knitting, fishing, the holidays and spending time with her family. Chris will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gordon, Pell Lake; son, Steve (Karen), Pell Lake; grandsons, Ben and Isaiah; her mother, Burga; and brother, John (Patti) Orzel. She was preceded in death by her father, Stefan. Visitation at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home, 515 Center St., Lake Geneva.
