Cindy L. Handel, 70, of Lake Geneva, WI passed away peacefully at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI.
She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. Cindy was born on September 28, 1953, in Elkhorn at Lakeland Medical Center to the late John R. and Joan M. (Pendergast) Gibbs. She Married Harvey C. Handel, Jr. on December 11, 1971 in Lake Geneva.
Cindy enjoyed going to different flee markets seeing what new treasures she could find. She had an impeccable taste of fashion, strutting the shopping aisles like a fashion icon. Cindy's touch was pure magic, and her love for animals rivaled her impeccable taste in fashion, making her a wholesome individual with unwavering kindness.
Designer, that is one word that describes Cindy. She was not just the fashionista with a heart of gold that we all knew. It was that she designed all aspects of her life, whether it was her style for the day, her gardening outside, even as she cooked in the kitchen, but most of all, herself. It was not so much the physical ‘design’, but her design. She was a very compassionate and understanding soul. Everyone wanted to be around Cindy, and in her presence, there aways was peace, comfort, happiness, and laughter. Her laugh was a melody, her smile a ray of sunshine.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Harvey; she was the mother of Hilary Carmen and grandmother of Alexis Marie Beaulieu, whom she cherished; she also leaves behind her fur babies Dozer and Auggie. She is also survived by her siblings John (Diane) Gibbs, Mary Earle, Kari (Kyle) Bird; nieces and nephews Abby, Meagan, Jenny, Katie Jo, Hattie, Silas, Dylan, Zoe, Josh, Matthew, Andrew, Kara, Ryan, Kaite, Maggie, Connor, Adam, Kyle, and Evan; other relatives and many friends. Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Lori Arndt, and best friend Ann Lewis.
Her artistic touch was a stroke of genius, leaving behind a legacy that will be savored for ages. Her zest for life was contagious, leaving a void that will echo in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her. Here is to Cindy, the brightest star in our sky.
