Donald J. Schmitz 74, East Troy, WI. formerly of Lake Geneva, died Sunday April 24, 2016 at the East Troy Manor Nursing Home, East Troy, WI. Donald was born March 14, 1942 in Batavia, IL. the son of Ambrose and Hattie Anderson Schmitz. United in marriage to Lila McBride June 14, 1969 in St. Louis, Mo. Member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lake Geneva. Served in the U.S. Army. Surviving is a daughter, Stephanie (Josh) Hansel, St. Louis Mo, and a son Gregory (Maura) Schmitz of Castle Rock, Co. Grandchildren, Margot, Greta and Adelaide Schmitz, and Natalie & Rachel Hansel. Brothers William (Denise) Schmitz of Bowie, Maryland and Gerald (Ellen) Schmitz of St.Charles, Il. and a Sister-in-law Nancy Schmitz of Batavia, Il. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Thomas Schmitz. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday May 13, 2016 at Immanuel Evangelical Luthern Church, Lake Geneva. Pastors Carl Johnson and Jennifer Carlson officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 11:30 AM to time of service. Steinke Funeral Home and Creamation Services are assisting the family.
