Donald Lucius Smith

Donald Lucius Smith, 84 of Delavan died at his home on Sunday, April 5, 2015 of natural causes. Don was born Feb. 27, 1931 in Delavan, WI the son of Lucius Smith and Alice Davidson. Don was a Delavan High School 1949 Graduate and a graduate of Milton College. He served in the Korean conflict with the US Navy. After service he returned to Wis and continued his education earning a double masters in Administration and Guidance and Counseling at U of Wi-Madison. Don was Principal of Viola-Scandinavia School. He was also Asst. Principal of Watertown High School. He also was councilor at Milton School System. His life was wrapped around secondary education. He was also a member of Am. Legion Post 95. He married Jean Whitehead Koval, Dec. 15, 1983 in Delavan. Don is survived by his wife, Jean Ellyn of Delavan. Nieces and a plethora of friends also survive. A Memorial gathering will be at 11:30 am , Sat. May 23, 2015 at the Betzer Funeral Home with Dick Rice officiating. After the services friends are invited to American Legion Post for a reception. Following the reception there will be the burial in Spring Grove Cemetery. Betzer Funeral Home is serving the family. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the DDHS Foundation in Don's name.
