Esther Alma Veley, 88 years old of Janesville, WI passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026. She was born December 16, 1937 to the late Edward and Alma (Kline) Wilkins in Fairfield, WI. On April 12, 1958, Esther was united in marriage with her husband, Gordon and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2005. She was honored to be the 1955 Delavan High School Homecoming Queen. Esther was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a part of the altar guild and ladies aid. She worked for the Delavan Darien School District and George Williams College. Esther enjoyed crocheting, getting lost in a word search, and challenging her brain while watching the game show network.
Survivors include, her children, Michael (Diane), Mark, Jeffrey, and Kathy (Joe); three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; and brother, Jim (Julia). Along with her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley and Carol; daughter-in-law, Denise; brother-in-law, Orval; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Janet, Nancy, Lucille, and Jean.
A special thank you to all who took care of Esther at home and to the entire staff at Rock Haven nursing home for their excellent care.
Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 416 W. Geneva St. Delavan, WI 53115. Interment to immediately follow in Richmond Cemetery Delavan, WI. For additional information, please call (262)-248-2320.
