Evelyn Rae 'Evie' Klein

Delavan, WI-Evelyn Rae (Thurn) Klein 88, left this world to join her husband William in heaven on Wednesday, February 21 st at RidgeStone Village in Delavan. She was born in Edgewood IA July 1 st , 1929 to Isaac Thurn and Grace Waite. Evie grew up on a farm in Iowa with 2 sisters and 5 brothers. She graduated high school at the age of 15 and later went to the University of Iowa. While working a summer job at Eat N Time restaurant in Delavan she met William Klein. They married in June of 1949. She worked as a secretary for Prudential in Madison, WI. Later she worked for the School For the Deaf in Delavan where they raised their 2 children. They owned a restaurant in Cocoa Beach, FL, Kleins Kottage Inn downtown Delavan, and a video store in Janesville. After retirement Evie worked at Steamboat Springs ski hill in Colorado. She also lived a few years in Arkansas and Utah. Her loves were painting, golfing, snow skiing, and above all her family. Evie is survived by her brother Otley Thurn, her children, David (Cindy) Klein of Castle Rock, CO, Paula (Doyle) Heller of Janesville, WI, 3 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Schutt, Melissa (David) Larsen, Christina Klein, and 1 great grandchild Luke Schutt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bill, 4 brothers, Lawrence, Carl, Robert, Clark, 2 sisters, Edna, Esther, and 1 brother in law Robert. Services to take place at 3 PM on Sunday February 25, 2018 at Betzer Funeral Home 118 S. 2 nd St. Delavan, WI. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 2 PM until the time of service. Burial to follow in the Spring.
