George James Kirkpatrick

George Kirkpatrick, 68 of Delavan, passed away on Nov. 5, 2014 after a short illness with cancer. He was born August 29,1946. He was second son of George Kirkpatrick and Eva (Hansen) Wood. He attended North Walworth Grade School and graduated in 1964 from Big Foot High School. He married Veronica Eicksteadt May 20, 1967. George says, " I've been broke and well off, raced Harleys and survived car accidents, had injuries fixed and the benefit of two angioplasties, flown first class and hitched-hiked in the rain, slept in hotel suits and on rescue mission cots, feasted at banquets and ate at soup kitchens, mingles with the elite and passed a bottle with winos, downed a few beers and afternoon coffee. I was privileged to have a career representing working people. I was employed 14 years as an electrician at Borg Instruments. I then served 21 years as a Business Representative for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers" "For 47 years I've shared a better companion than I ever deserved, my wife Ronnie. I've watched our children turn into fine adults, our grandchildren become adults, and our great grandchildren start a life." George was a Wisconsin sports fan, particularly a Packer Backer. His hobbies included investing and finances. He was active in the Democratic Party, an election teller for Walworth Twsp.. then Delavan Twsp. He also served on the Walworth County Canvas Committee. George is survived by his wife, "Ronnie", sons, Randy (Anne) Kirkpatrick of Elkhorn and Curtis (Sandra) Kirkpatrick of Delavan, one brother,Daniel (Vicki) Kirkpatrick of Milton, FL. five grandchildren and two great grandsons. He is also survived by his stepfather, Elmer Wood, three stepbrothers, Donavon (Gayle) Wood, Robert Wood, Ronald Wood, and one stepsister Jeannie Hillman all of Rockford, IL, a special niece, Sandra Robert of Lake Geneva and other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Thomas Kirkpatrick. Funeral services are 11am on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at the Betzer Funeral Home with Bev Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9am to service time at the funeral home. Memorial to THE TIME IS NOW or INT. SEEING EYE DOG FOUNDATION.
