George Howard Welch, Jr

George H. Welch, Jr. 100, lifetime Darien area resident died Jan. 7, 2016 at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn. George was born December 28, 1915 in Sharon, Wisconsin the son of George H. Welch, Sr. and Sarah Woods.George graduated from Darien High School in the class of 1935. He married Darling Zink, Sept. 23, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa. Darling predeceased him May 2, of 2009. George worked for many years for Darien Twsp. on the Road Maintenance Crew. He then went to work for Libby's Frozen Foods and Packing Corp. in rural Darien. George was the oldest living member of the Southern Lakes Masonic Lodge #12 George was a happy man and loved by those who knew him. He is survived by 2 sons, George Welch, III of Darien. Tom (Diann) Welch of Delavan. 1 sister, Laura Enright of Delavan. 7 Grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois (Joe)Neumeier, sisters, Myrtle, Helen, Milly, Sara and Marge. Brothers, Ralph,Melvin and a infant brother. George was the last of the Welch boys. Funeral services will be 11am. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 at the Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 6pm and one hour prior to services at the Betzer Funeral Home.
