Gordon Raymond Targo, 77, passed away Sunday, July 6, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.
He was born Sept. 28, 1947, in Chicago to Arthur and Edith (Woolley) Targo. While he was a child, his family moved out of Chicago. The Targos lived in other Illinois communities before settling in Pell Lake. Gordon attended schools in and around Lake Geneva, including Badger High School; and held various jobs at such factories as Woodstock Tool & Die in Woodstock, Illinois.
Gordon met Christine B. Orzel when she would visit her parents at their summer cottage in Pell Lake. They married Oct. 9, 1971, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Chicago. Together, they lived in Pell Lake until 1978. They lived in Lake Geneva for almost 10 years, then returned to the Pell Lake area.
Spending time with grandsons Ben and Isaiah was one of the most important things to Gordon. As he forged his own path through life, he still enjoyed the company of other people. He also loved cars, fishing, camping, jokes, the news, movies and TV shows, and playing both the Illinois lottery and the game “Civilizations” on his computer.
Gordon is remembered by his son, Steve (Heather Crane), Pell Lake; grandsons Ben and Isaiah; Isaiah's mom, Karen Asiong, Pell Lake; and Gordon's brothers Doug (Donna), Darien; and Wayne, Elkhorn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christine; and his brother, Arthur Jr.
