Guadalupe Castillo, lovingly known as Lupe, passed away on May 9, 2024, just one day shy of her 83rd birthday. She was born on May 10, 1941, in Cotulla, Texas and was a longtime resident of Delavan, WI; most recently of Janesville, WI.
Lupe was a remarkable woman who found joy in the simplest of things. Her favorite hobbies included spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking delicious meals (including her famous homemade tortillas), shopping, tending to her garden, grilling with a beer, and watching baseball. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was married to her devoted husband, Benito Castillo, on December 21, 1964, in Hale Center, Texas. The two spent an incredible 60 years and loved each other to no end. Her proudest accomplishments and contributions were undoubtedly her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband Benito; children Danny (Araceli) Castillo, Dolores (Angelo) Guerrero, and Doris Castillo; grandchildren Ross (Mykayla) Perkins, Michael (Emily) Perkins, Celeste (Ty) Cullen, Zane Gonzalez, Raeya Gonzalez, Isabella Castillo, and Julio Castillo; great-grandchildren Mykenna Perkins, David Perkins, Michael Perkins Jr., Parker Cullen, Harrison Cullen, and Shepard Cullen; siblings Terri, Marcel (Maria), Ruben (Sheena), Abel (Terry), Sonja, and Vera (Oscar); as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. She will be missed by many. Preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Elizondo and Alcaria Jimenez, grandson Benny Castillo-Perkins, and siblings Janie, Irma, Ramiro, Lalo, and Raymon.
Lupe was an independent and nurturing woman who radiated unconditional love. Her resilience was truly inspiring. She turned the hardships in her life into something beautiful, joyous, and sentimental. Her legacy will be forever cherished by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
