Howard A. Stollfuss

Howard A. Stollfuss, 92, of Genoa City, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1934, to the late Arthur and Berde Stollfuss in Chicago, IL.

Howard grew up on the north side of Chicago and spent his summers enjoying boating at the family lake house on Powers Lake in Wisconsin. He graduated from Amundsen High School and served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Carson, Colorado, alongside his twin brother, Arnold. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he spent his entire professional career at the Chicago office of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. During that time, he resided in Chicago, Mt. Prospect, and Arlington Heights, while also spending time at the lake house and in the Lake Geneva area. He retired from BNSF at age 55 after working there for nearly 34 years.

Howard spent his retirement years at the family lake house where he resided with his younger brother, Robert. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, where he taught Sunday School. Howard’s greatest joy was combining his dedication to the Lord with his

love of music while serving as the church organist at First Lutheran Church for 29 years. Howard’s favorite hobby was swimming several days a week during his 20 years as a member of the Grand Geneva Spa and Fitness Center. He spent his final years near his family at Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, IL.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Patricia; nephew, Andrew (Rebecca); great-nieces, Claire and Hannah; and many dear friends. Along with his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold and Robert.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at First Lutheran Church, 1101 Logan St., Lake Geneva, WI. Interment will immediately follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
