James M. Bartos

James M. Bartos, age 70 years. Longtime resident of Linn Township. Passed to eternal life on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024.

Jim was born on March 22, 1954 to the late Charles and Dorothy (Zoellner) Bartos in Elkhorn, WI. Jim married Hyly Best in 1985 at the Church of the Holy Communion and have been married for 39 years.

Jim is survived by Hyly and his sister Valerie Laine and his four-legged companion Dudley. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Bartos and four legged companions Sheba, Buddy and Smokey Bear. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jim was a proud to have served in many capacities in the local firefighting communities. Jim was the charter member of the Linn Township Rescue Squad, Long time member and Chief of the Linn Township Fire Department, Walworth County Fire Chiefs Association and served as Chief, Walworth County Fire Association, State of Wisconsin Fire Association and the Lake Geneva Youth Association. Jim worked for many different companies over the years including Woodstock Die Casting, Marion Dale Farms, Otto Jacobs and Mann Brothers from which he retired from in 2010.

Visitation will be held at Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home-Lake Geneva (515 Center Street) on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10 to 11:30 with funeral service at 11:30 with Pastor Cathy Manthei Officiating. Jim will be laid to rest next to his parents at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lakeland Animal Shelter in Jim’s name would be appreciated.
