Jeanene C. Tierney

Jeanene Carole Tierney (ne Dyrcz), 91, passed away to eternal life on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Round Lake Beach Illinois. Jeanene was born in Chicago Illinois to the late Steven and Alva Dyrcz on January 14, 1932. As a young woman growing up on Chicago's South side, Jeanene worked downtown for a furrier and often modeled the latest styles to prospective customers. When not working she would hop a cable car with her girlfriends and go dancing at the Aragon Ballroom. Raising 6 children left little room for a personal life. As the children grew, she developed a fondness for home decorating and wearing fashionable clothing. When she was a little older, she developed a love for horses and liked watching them race. She was thrilled when she was able to attend the Kentucky Derby. Mom liked playing cards, reading Agatha Christie books and loved watching classic movies. She also developed a taste for playing the slots and, with her best friend Marsha was present for the grand opening of the first casino at New Jersey's Atlantic City Boardwalk. As mom grew older, she developed numerous friendships and became very social. She enjoyed playing games, going on day trips and chatting with her girlfriends. Mom will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. She was survived by 6 children: Michael (Sandy), Brian, Patricia (Tony), Laura (Brad), Shawn, Suzanne, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is Preceded in death by her parents. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the FUNERAL HOME (515 Center Street, Lake Geneva) from 10a.m. until service at 12p.m. She will be laid to rest at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, WI following the service.
