Joyce Mae Bigelow

May 26, 1923 — April 15, 2023

Joyce Mae Bigelow, 99, passed away on April 15, 2023 at home, with her son Ben at her side. Joyce was born on May 26, 1923, to Miles and Mattie Morgan in Elkhorn, Wisconsin; one of their twelve children. She graduated from Delavan High-School in 1940. In 1944 she married George Bigelow, and on April 28, 1946, their son Ben was born. Together, George and Joyce operated George L Bigelow Trucking for almost 30 years, until Ben bought the business in 1972. Over the next 20 years they owned and operated Bluebird Cab service. Joyce also worked at Borg Instruments, for over 50 years. Delavan was Joyce's home until 2015 when she moved to Reeds Spring, Missouri with her son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Sue. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She enjoyed many vacations, fishing, four-wheeling and camping trips, and loved a Sunday afternoon drive around the lake with her family. In 1972, when Jenny was born, she first became a grandma. In 1984, when Ben and Sue Verdick established a life together, she gained Tiffany Miller and Donnie Verdick as her grandchildren, and she became a great-grandmother to Tiffany's children; Dana, Brittany and Rick. Jenny's son Tyler, was born in 2002 bringing the count of her great-grandchildren to four. Dana, Brittany and Rick have since blessed her with ten great-great-grandchildren. Joyce had the privilege of living down the street from Dana, Brittany and Rick as they were growing up; and she loved being there for them, often with cookies and treats, whenever they needed her. She never missed an opportunity to head west to spend time with Jenny and Tyler, who live in Wyoming. Joyce adored all of her grandchildren; and they adored her. Joyce is survived by her son, Ben; her grandchildren, Jenny and Tiffany (John) Miller; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Cramer, Dana (Laron) Marcott, Brittany Miller-Claas (Brian), Rick (Rachel) Miller; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband George; her daughter-in-law, Sue; her grandson Donnie; and eleven siblings. A funeral service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan, at 11am. Lazarczyk Family Funeral Homes of Delavan is proudly serving the family. Service Details. Interment Location Spring Grove Cemetery Address DELAVAN, WI 53115
