Karen Joan Brown, age 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Born on April 20, 1945, to the late Cecil and Lois (Olson) Black, Karen lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and love for her family. She married the love of her life, Dwight Brown, on August 14, 1965, and together they built a home and raised their family in Huntsville, Texas.A graduate of Stephens College and Sam Houston State University, Karen dedicated her career to teaching elementary school. She found great joy in helping young children learn and grow and was known for her patience, kindness, and genuine care for every student who walked through her classroom door. The lessons she taught and the encouragement she gave left a lasting impact on countless students, their families, colleagues, and friends.Karen spent most of her life in Huntsville, Texas. She also enjoyed 15 years in Spofford, New Hampshire, and spent the last seven years of her life in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
While Karen found great fulfillment in teaching, her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend who poured her heart into every moment spent with those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy not only in the countless students she inspired, but also in the family and friends who were fortunate to know her.Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Dwight Brown; her children, Greg Brown and Lisa Brown; and her cherished grandchildren, Devin Brown, Austin Brown, Tyler Brown and Mason Brown.She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Delon Brown.
Karen will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her dedication to education, and the unwavering love she gave to her family and friends. Her memory will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
