Lothar Johann "Lo" Thiel

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Lothar Johann Thiel, who passed away on January 28, 2019 at the age of 82. Lothar was born on February 14, 1936 to the late Johann and Anna (Drews) Thiel. He was united in marriage to Christa Hase on May 23, 1958 in Dortmund Germany. They came over to America residing in Chicago for 30 years prior to moving to Lake Geneva in 1988. Lothar was the loving father of Werner (Tina), Edmund (Peggy) and John Thiel. Lothar, "Opa", adored his grandchildren Megan (Joe), Sarah (Collin), Rachel (Sean) and Ryan. Opa was a beloved great-grandfather to six. He is also survived by his brother Reinhard (Renate), nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Lothar was preceded in death by his parents and brother Werner Thiel. A visitation for Lothar will be held at the Steinke-Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home (515 Center Street, Lake Geneva) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 with a service at 12 p.m., Fr. Sergio Lizama will be officiating. Burial to follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lyons, WI. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
