Marilyn J. Cairns, 95, of Delavan, Wisconsin, passed away, with her daughters by her side, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Holton Manor in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
She was born on May 16, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of George and Mae Sinda (nee Wisniewski). Marilyn and her family moved to Delavan, from Chicago, in 1945. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1947. She married John W. Cairns, Jr. at St. Andrew Church, Delavan, on June 14, 1947. John passed away on August 19, 2004. Marilyn had been employed at National Tea in Delavan and was also employed at Ajay Industries until her retirement in 1988. Marilyn was a parishioner at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Delavan.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Hyde of Milton, WI and Karen (David) Baker of Spring Grove, IL; four grandchildren, Brian (Lisa) Hyde, Kevin (Christina) Hyde, Jill (Joe) Gower, and Scott (Laura) Baker; and ten great-grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Kelly, Phoenix, Wyland, and Sienna Hyde, Ashton and Everett Gower, and Adeline and Chloe Baker. Marilyn is also survived by a brother-in law and two sisters-in-law, Marvin (Nancy) Cairns of Belvedere, IL and Patricia Cairns of Hayward, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Richard Sinda; and a sister, Georgette Boness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holton Manor, 645 N. Church St., Elkhorn, WI 53121 are suggested.
Visitation will be held at Lazarczyk Family Funeral Home-Delavan Chapel (118 South 2nd Street) on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 10-11am with Funeral Service at 11am with Deacon Phil Kilkenny officiating. Private Interment at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
