Melvin L. Knight, 89, Burlington, WI formerly of Des Moines, IA died Tuesday February 24, 2015 at the Pine Brook Pointe Assisted Living, Burlington, WI. Melvin was born Oct. 20, 1925 in Coon Rapids, Iowa the son of Elmer and Mary Reed Knight. United in marriage to Thelma "Peg" Geisler on Feb. 20, 1953 in Dawson, IA and she preceded him in death Jan. 4, 1998. Member of the United Methodist Church in Dawson, IA. and the American Legion Post #274 in Des Moines, IA. Served in the U.S. Army in WWII and Korean War. Employed at Ruan Transport Company. Surviving are his sisters, Ruth Mass, Council Bluffs, IA, Hazel (Marvin) Lowe, Riverside, CA and Lucile (Max) Higley, Roseville CA., caretakers, Marilyn Roth and Doris Gauger, and many other nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Inez and 2 brothers, Donald, and Cecil Knight. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
