Merle Leroy Whipple

Merle L. Whipple, 86, Lake Geneva, WI passed away Friday June 12, 2015 at his residence. Merle was born Aug. 6, 1928 in Bancroft, WI the son of Myron and Winnie Campbell Whipple. United in marriage to Florence Ramczyk May 23, 1953 in Lake Geneva, WI. Member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church and American Legion Post in Genoa City, WI. Served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was an Ambulance Driver. Was employed as a Custodian at Wisconsin Electric in Pleasant Prairie, WI. retiring March 1, 1992. Merle was an avid Packer Fan, enjoyed bowling, loved watching wrestling, and playing cards. Surviving are: his wife of 62 years Florence, 2 daughters, Shirley Whipple, McHenry, IL., Sheryl (Charlie) Bock Antioch, IL., 2 sons, Michael (Lorna) Whipple, Silver Lake, WI and Dan (Sue) Whipple, Zion, IL. 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and 1 step grandson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday June 19, 2015 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church with Fr. James Schuerman officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday June 18, 2015 at the Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva, WI.
