Michael J Hinzpeter

Michael J. Hinzpeter, 63, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at his residence. Mike was born May 3, 1950, in Elkhorn, WI, the son of Calvin (Spud) and C. Ruth Ferguson Hinzpeter, United in marriage to Diane Adams Aug. 26, 1978, in Lyons, Wisconsin. Mike was a graduate of UW-Whitewater. He was self-employed as an auto mechanic at Vista Automotive with many loyal customers. One of his passions was working on race cars during his early automotive career. Mike loved the outdoors and time spent camping, hunting and fishing. This last hunting season was one of Mike's best. In October, he hunted near Buffalo, Wyoming, with his son, brother and friends and harvested a trophy antelope. This winter, Mike was also fortunate enough to shoot a buck during muzzleloader season. Mike enjoyed sharing his homemade pickles and dilly beans with friends and strangers alike. Surviving are his mother, Ruth, his wife, Diane, daughter, Marin (James) Darsie, Durham, North Carolina, son, Sean, Walworth, Wisconsin, brother, David (Sara) Hinzpeter, Cody, Wyoming. Preceded in death by his father. Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday at the Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva, with Fr. James Schuerman from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to time of service at the funeral home.
