Paul R. Lagerlof

June 1, 1931 — February 20, 2024

Paul R. Lagerlof, age 92, was a long time resident of Lake Geneva, WI. He passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 with his family by his side.

He was born June 1, 1931 in Chicago, IL . He attended Senn High school on the northside of Chicago. His parents brought him to Lake Geneva in the summers during his youth when the family took residence at George Williams College. His mother and father (a professor in Chicago) had summer employment running the golf course at GWC. They lived above the GWC Camp golf club house. Young Paul was attracted to the water, and became an avid sailor on the lake, preferring sail boats and ice boats to motorized. He met his wife, Harriet Lagerlof, a camper at GWC during college years. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, and received a masters degree in Industrial Engineering at IIT.

Paul was a commander in the US Coast Guard, enjoying his love for maritime in the reserves, while making a career as an Industrial Engineer for the USPS in Chicago and raising his 3 children in Elmhurst, IL. Paul enjoyed his retirement years by moving to Lake Geneva in 1988. Paul is survived by his wife of 69 loving years, Harriett J. Lagerlof, his children Ron Lagerlof, Gwen (Paul) Marchese, Sara (Andrew) Rubin, brother Dave (Joan) Lagerlof; grandchildren, Jackson, Danielle (Jack), Nick (Euyhne), Bryn, Miller, Chase, Ethan, loving nephews, nieces and friends. Great grandchildren, Madilyn, Waylon. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Lagerlof, and beloved great granddaughter Charlotte. He was a kind and gentle man, who provided support and a listening ear to his family. He often commented on how lucky in life he was, and appreciated the little things. He was always proud of his children and grandchildren, and he told them often. He was happiest when they all visited him. He never judged people or had a bad word to say. He respected others opinions and looked for the good qualities in everyone.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In expression of sympathy, the family suggests to simply pass on respect and kindness to all. Lazarczyk Family Funeral Homes is proudly serving the family.
