Philip C. Putman was born to Leah Rockwell Putman and the late Clyde Monroe Putman at Beloit Hospital in Beloit,Wis on Oct. 8, 1936. He graduated from Darien High School in 1954 as one of nine classmates. During his time in school, he was an active Boy Scout. Philip also loved to travel, visiting all 50 states during his lifetime. Philip married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Jacobs, on Jan. 16, 1955. Their ceremony was held at the Brick Church pasonage and officiated by Rev. Harold Gronseth. Together, they raised six children in Allens Grove, WI as Philip began a life of dedicated service to his family and his community. Later in life, he chose to move his childhood home in Darien, while designing and building his energy efficient ICF dream home. Philip was well known for riding his bike and later his segway around town, as well as for rototiling many gardens in the area. He was an active member of the Village of Darien, serving as a Village Trustee for several years. He also supported the villages growth, playing a role in completing the construction and occupation of Village Hall and building a new library and a senior center. He also volunteered at the Darien Food Pantry and was a friend of the Darien United Methodist Church. He wand Phyllis served as the 2011 Corn Fest Parade Marshalls. Philip retired in 2000 from the Iseli Corporation in Walworth after 30 years. He also delivered bread for the Omar company and worked for Admiral Swiss Tech as well as filling in as a substitute mail carrier for Darien as he was needed. Philip was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Jacobs Putman; six children, Cindy (Bill) Luessenhop, Bill Putman, Jim (Jackie) Putman, Sue(Steve) Gibson, Tammy (Ed) Zylka and Patty (tony) Fatigato ; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 7 pm at the Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan . Services will be held Friday, Nov.11th at 11am at the Darien United Methodist Church. with the Rev.
