Rene Adam 'Radar' Demarasse

February 1, 1952 — December 7, 2014

Rene Adam De Marasse (Radar), 62 years old, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 9, 2014 at his home in Janesville, WI, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with a terminal illness. He was born in New York, New York February 1, 1952, son of Richard and Jean De Marasse. Due to unforeseen circumstances he moved to Elkhorn, Wisconsin where he was adopted by his Aunt Virginia and Uncle Truman Ring who raised him as their own child. Rene' graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1972 and completed the Correctional Officer Training in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He married Susan Marie O'Connor on September 11, 1976 in Delavan, Wisconsin and moved to Evansville, Wisconsin where they lived for 30 years. He was employed at Oakhill Correctional Institution-Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Oregon, Wisconsin and retired in June 2005 after 30 years of devoted service to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. In September 2005 he and his wife moved to Janesville, Wisconsin. Rene' s pride and joy were his wife of 38 years, children, grandchildren and his loyal canine companion Hershey. He always put his family first and was not only a provider but was always there for his family in time of need. He was an avid sportsman and loved to read especially science fiction and history books. Rene will always be remembered as a quiet and simple man. He was a good and honest person who impacted many lives in a positive way never drawing attention to himself. He was loving and compassionate with a zest for life, and always saw the positive instead of the negative in everything he did and said. Rene' is survived by his wife, Susan of Janesville; his children, Lindsay De Marasse and her future husband Jay Koehler of Janesville, WI, Richard (Kayla Johnston) De Marasse of Elkhorn, WI and five grandchildren: Lexi, Hailey, Jessie, Ty and Brogan; a sister, Linda Ring Weber of Racine, WI; mother-in- law, Evelyn O'Connor of Delavan, WI, five sister-in-law's, four brother-In-law's and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Jean, aunt and uncle (adopted parents) Truman and Virginia, and father-in-law Kenneth O'Connor. Visitation will be Thursday, December 11th from 9 to 11 a.m. at Betzer's Funeral Home, Delavan, WI, with a eulogy at 11 a.m.at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Lake Geneva, WI. Our family would like to thank all of our family, friends and doctors and staff from the University Hospital in Madison and St. Mary's in Janesville for the loving care given to Rene' through his final journey. We would also like to thank Rainbow Hospice for making his final journey to heaven a peaceful one. No words can express how grateful we are to everyone for the love and care given to Rene' and our family. Until we meet again you will always be my knight in shining armor, Sue.
