Richard Herman Schmidt

Richard Herman Schmidt, Sr. was born December 16, 1928 in Janesville, Rock County, WI, the only child of Herman and Ottelia Augusta Englund Schmidt, both deceased. He died 29 November 2020. After graduating from Janesville High School in 1948, he then worked with his dad at the Janesville General Motors Chevrolet plant. He entered the Air Force and after training in Texas and Alabama was sent to France for four years. Following his discharge in 1959 he returned to Wisconsin and worked at the Veterans Administration in Milwaukee. He there met and then married Mary Ann Kanitz. Later they moved to Walworth County, WI where he worked and retired in 1992 from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, WI. Through the years they had four children, Shirley Ann, now deceased, married to Ken Sathern, Walworth, WI., Alice Kay married Ronald Pfeiffer, now deceased, Huntsville, AR., Richard Herman, Jr, married to Sue Ellen Clayton, Elkhorn, W., and David Arthur, married to Carrie Lynn Riese, Elkhorn, WI. Between the four children they have ten grandchildren; Veronica Josephine Schmidt married to Alex Ortiz, Milwaukee, WI.,Constance (Connie) Alicia Pfeiffer married to Manoj Pinnamaneni and living in 2014 in Sao Paulo, Brazil due to his job; Seth Richard Schmidt, Ethan Gordon Schmidt, both of Elkhorn, WI., Allyssa Marie Schmidt married to Ryan Shuda, Algonquin, IL., Evan David Schmidt, OH., Justin Shawn Pfeiffer, Michelle LeAnn Pfeiffer , Jonathan Daniel Pfeiffer and Patrick Michael Pfeiffer married to Shaina Faye Bonner, Huntsville, AR. They also have six great grandchildren, Sydney Ruth Shuda and Mackenzie Lynn Shuda, Crystal lake, IL., Jack Michael Pfeiffer and Lillian Raye Pfeiffer, Huntsville, AR., Amara Pfeiffer Pinna and Ronesh Forester Pinna, Seattle, WA. in 1978 they moved to Walworth County where he worked and retired in 1992 from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, WI. He wished for his ashes buried beneath a specific tree along the walkway in the Delavan arboretum next to daughter Shirley and her husband Ken Sathern's tree.
