Robert H. Miller, age 87 of Arlington, TX and of Lake Geneva, WI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 5, 2018. My Dad had an opportunity to enjoy most of his dreams. He also quietly inspired my brother and I. My Dad wasn't afraid to take risks and enjoy some adventures. He had a passion for the lakes and spent time teaching Ken and I - at a very young age by today's standards - to drive motorboats. Every summer was filled with time at the lake fishing, waterskiing and grilling out. The lake is still a very special part of our hearts and lives today. Dad also took to the air and earned his private pilot's license while we were both young kids and flew the family to Florida and Arizona to visit our grandparent's during holiday vacations. We had faith in our Dad and his skills -- and never really thought about flying in a four seat plane as anything more than an adventure. He had two planes, one he co-owned and later an Ultralight plane kit. We spent many a warm week up at the EAA Fly-in in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. These were great times to learn and see Dad's interest in planes, long after he stopped flying. Dad moved from the air to the ground living the RV life. Dad and Mom enjoyed camping in much of the 50 states. They met many kind people, some he knew for decades and kept a watchful eye as he got older. Ken and I have both had motorcycles. While Dad never got into the biker culture, it didn't stop him from taking a spin on one of my brother's bikes. He learned firsthand what loose gravel can do, and without much damage to him or the bike, learned that was one thrill he wasn't going to seek. Dad was a very creative fellow. He loved to build things out of wood or metal often making patterns from photos. From a wood motor boat he built in High School and enjoyed driving on Lake Como, Wisconsin to a two-seater Ultralight plane, he was always making something. He took great pride in his work from designing a Little Free Library box to installing an HVAC equipment when he owned a heating and air conditioning business. He was a perfectionist, thinking of all the little details. Ken and I are both blessed to have several pieces of his creativity and talent around our homes. He loved his family and we will miss him very much. His wife, granddaughters and furry grandkids brought a smile and joy to his life. A memorial gathering will be held at the Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home (515 Center Street, Lake Geneva) on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. Steinke-Lazarczyk Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Lake Geneva, WI is proudly serving the family of Robert Miller.
