Robert William "Bob" Wenzel

Robert W Wenzel, 92 of Darien, Wi. passed away at his home on June 8th, 2019. He was born May 12th, 1927 in Elkhorn Wi. To William and Cora Wenzel. He grew up in the Elkhorn, Darien area and graduated from Darien High School. He married Violet R. Cervenka on June 3rd, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Darien Wi. They were married for 69 years. Bob is survived by his wife Violet, their 5 children and families, James, Sue, Mark, Mary Beth, and Steve. 6 Grandchildren, Kevin, David, Daniel. Michael, Michelle, Jonathan, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Cora Wenzel, and sister Jean Cummings. Bob was a devoted husband and father. His favorite times were when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He grew up farming and it remained his passion throughout his life. He later owned his own insurance business in Darien. He was a man of strong faith, was a charter member of Triune Lutheran Church, and served in many capacities over the years. He was dedicated to his community and served the Village of Darien for over 25 years. He took great pride in chairing the committee to construct the Darien Library and Senior Center. Bob leaves his legacy of strong values to his children and grandchildren not just through his words but through his actions and deeds, His visitation will be held Thursday, June 13th from 6-8 pm at Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan. Funeral Services will take place at 11 am Friday June 14th at Triune Lutheran Church, rural Darien with the Rev. Dale Blanchard officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be held at Darien Cemetery following the Luncheon. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations may be made to Triune Lutheran Church, N1584 Co. Rd. K, Sharon Wi. 53585.
