Ronald Kent Anderson

November 14, 1939 — July 1, 2019

Ronald K. Anderson, 79, of Delavan, Wisconsin, passed away July 1, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin. Born in Cannon Falls, Minnesota in 1939, Ron's family moved to Medford, Oregon in 1949. He graduated from Medford High School before joining the Army, where he served as a medic. Starting out as a paperboy at age 14 for the Medford Mail Tribune, he continued his years of service after returning from the Army, and he took an early retirement after 41 years of service for the newspaper. He was proud to have had progressed within the newspaper from a er to a night foreman in the composing room. Together with his wife and daughter, Judy, they raised registered Polled Hereford cattle and took an active role in ranching in Southern Oregon. Traveling in the northwest showing cattle and meeting other breeders was a great pastime for Ron and his family. In 2002 Ron and Vernola made the decision to sell their property and cattle and move to Delavan, to be near their daughter and son in law. Shortly after moving to Wisconsin, Ron joined the Delavan Lake Yacht Club where he made many friends through club activities and took an active role on the Board of Directors and as building manager, both of which he served for 12 years. He also joined the United Methodist Church, and he participated in and led many Men's Club activities. He cherished the friends he made during his time in Wisconsin, including his friends in the coffee group he went to on weekday mornings. Through sports, church and school, Ron had an active role in the lives of his grandsons that live in Delavan. Ron enjoyed going to sporting events his grandsons participated in - basketball, soccer and sailing. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vernola Anderson, and two daughters - Debra Hamm (Michael) of North Carolina and Judy Morris (Tom) of Delavan. He also left 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He leaves behind Willard Anderson, brother, and Jerry Anderson, twin brother, both from Southern Oregon. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Rudella Anderson, his father Ray Anderson and a sister, Marion Peterson. Service Details.
