Ronald Lee Page: A Life Dedicated to Service and Family

Elkhorn, WI - Ronald Lee Page , a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed on to eternity on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at the age of 68.

Born on July 5th, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, Ron was the son of Arlie and Delores Page. After graduating high school in 1973, he started his career at Hornsby's Department Stores, forging a lifelong friendship with Bill Twomey.

In 1977, a defining moment arrived when Ron discovered his calling. He joined the McHenry County Sheriff's Department, embarking on a passionate journey dedicated to protecting and defending others. His commitment to his profession was unwavering, as he faced the ultimate test in the line of duty, overcoming a gunshot wound and the arduous path to recovery, ultimately returning to active service.

His personal life flourished in 1985 with his marriage to Dawn Litzo, followed by the joyful arrival of their son, Patrick. Ron's family continued to grow with the births of his daughters, Ashley and Heather. The love for his family expanded further in 2013 with the birth of his cherished grandson, Liam, with whom he formed a special bond, enjoying walks and playful wrestling matches.

Ron's dedication to law enforcement went beyond a single department. He served in various positions throughout his career, including administration, patrol, criminal and major accident investigations, and more. He was a member of specialized units like SWAT, a range officer, and a field training officer, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to excellence.

In 2006, Ron retired from the McHenry County Sheriff's Department and became Chief of Police in Lanark, Illinois. His passion wouldn't allow him to fully retire, leading him to security work and eventually, in 2011, to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department.

In 2015, Ron and Maria experienced a unique and meaningful connection that blossomed into a loving relationship. The undeniable connection culminated in their marriage on May 19th, 2017. Ron's family expanded again, welcoming Maria's children and grandchildren.

Ron finally retired on December 25th, 2023, after twelve years of service with the Winthrop Harbor Police Department. Sadly, leaving his partner Roger Vines behind.

He leaves behind a legacy of service to community, courage, and unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Patrick, Ashley, and Heather (Jacob) Holland; grandson, Liam Holland; step-grandchildren, Madeline, Elijah, Molly, Maysen, Elsie, Callie, Danny, Walker, Elliott, and Theo; brothers, Jim and Larry; nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Arlie and Delores Page.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church (700 N. Bloomfield Rd, Lake Geneva, WI). A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 pm, with a fellowship time afterward. A private entombment will take place on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, at Woodland Cemetery in McHenry, Illinois, for immediate family.
