Ruth Olson

Ruth Vivian Olson died April 20, 2016 of natural causes. Ruth was born April 2, 1925 in Jefferson County, WI. Ruth graduated high school at age 16 and began working, supporting World War II efforts. Following the war, Ruth met and married Robert Olson on August 7, 1948. Together Ruth and Bob owned and operated the Darien Food Mart for over 20 years in downtown Darien. After retiring, the two enjoyed traveling through all 50 states and Canada and spending time at the family cabin in Tomahawk, WI. Ruth's first love was always her family, the recipients of her sweetness and generosity. Over the years, she spent numerous hours caring for her beloved grandchildren and attending all their sports and musical performances. Ruth is survived by her to daughters, Diane Olson, and Rhonda (Tim) Bliss, of Darien, one sister, Evelyn Anderson, Orfordville, and four grandchildren, Kara (Dan) Knudsen, San Diego, CA, Kelsey (Stephan) Pollard, Queens, NY, Tyler (fiancee Julianna Mulroy) Bliss, Boston, MA, Kylie Bliss, Darien and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 until 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25 at the church. Burial will be in the Darien Cemetery following the service. Betzer Funeral Home is serving the Olson Family. Memorials to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with School are appreciated.
