Susan L. Doemel, age 78 yrs. Resident of Whitewater and formerly of Zenda, WI. Passed to eternal life on Friday, October 2, 2026. Susan was born on August 19, 1948 at Lakeland Medical Center to Harry and Lucy (nee Haines) Young. She married Steve on March 21, 1987 at the Community Reformed Church in Delavan, WI. She dedicated more than 40 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse at Lakeland Medical Center. Her career was more than a profession—it was a calling. After graduating from the Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing, she devoted herself to helping patients and families with compassion, kindness, and a caring heart. Over the years, she touched countless lives through her work and was respected and appreciated by those she worked alongside.
Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and sister. Her family was at the center of her life, and the love she gave them will remain one of her greatest legacies.
When she wasn't caring for others, she found happiness in her garden. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flower beds. She enjoyed watching her flowers bloom and creating a beautiful place that brought color and joy to her home. Her garden was a reflection of her—warm, nurturing, and full of life.
She will be remembered for the care she gave to others, the love she gave her family, and the beauty and kindness she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
Susan is survived by her husband Steve, children Heather (Terry) Schmmel, Megan (David) Anderson and Lisa Marie (Tim) Mathe, grandchildren Gabriel Schemmel, Meghan (Ryan) Fiorentino and Molly Walsh, great grandchildren Nora and Lucia Fiorentino and Sister Lucy Jane Peters.
