Virginia Helen "Ginny" Carlson

Virginia "Ginny" Helen Carlson said "goodbye" good life. Passing away on her own terms August 1 2019 at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, Wisconsin She said "hello" to her good life on July 12, 1941, in Mineola, New York, welcomed by her loving parents, Gertrude Viola (Cornwell) and Theodore Thomas Arnott. Ginny‘s mom and aunts instilled a love of fabrics, and sewing, which sustained her throughout her life. After graduating high school, Ginny earned her Bachelor's degree from the Philadelphia College of Textiles. Her class schedule meant she often reached the campus dining hall long after the other students. Frequently, the only entree choice available was veal cutlet. After graduating college, she never ate veal again. Ginny's father engraved ing press plates for Life magazine. He brought home a draft ad for the Ford Mustang. She bought one of those Mustangs, and always had a fondness for a sporty car (though her practical nature meant she bought sensible cars, and drove ‘em like a speedster.) Degree in hand, she landed a job at Borg Fabrics, located far from Long Island in Delavan, Wisconsin. Her dad had a 20-mile commute, which Long Islanders consider a good commute, so sight unseen she rented an apartment in Beloit, 20 miles away from Delavan. She enjoyed working at Borg Fabrics, living with her Siamese cat Piwacket, and socializing. One evening, the bartender spilled her drink on Chuck Carlson's money; they married on May 26, 1967 in Delavan, Wisconsin. With Chuck, while raising their kids, Ginny continued her career at George's Custom Draperies, before transitioning to work at the Delavan Aram Public library. After retiring from the library, she worked at Kohl's. She volunteered for Tele-care, 4-H Sewing, Friends of the Aram Public Library, and the United Methodist Church. She fed her creative nature through sewing, and by selling custom-knitted children's sweaters, and handcrafts. Ginny loved and adored her granddaughters, who remember her blunt sass, competitive attitude, long conversations, and loving thoughts. She cherished her friends - the camaraderie, the raucous laughter, and the "let's have coffee" meetups that often stretched into lunch and dinner. Ginny's husband, Charles "Chuck" Eugene, predeceased her in February, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Kristin Ann (Robin Lee-Thorp); son Charles "Chuck" Theodore; granddaughters Madiline (Cody) Boyd, Katlyn Carlson, Allyson Carlson, Evangeline Mulderink; their mother, Mary Mulderink; the extended Carlson and Hart families; her many friends, and neighbors, for whom her family is very thankful. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Delavan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maribel Celiz officiating.
